The past few weeks, reading has taken a slight backseat. I’m not even sure I’ll reach my reading goal this year. Even though I haven’t read as much as usual, I still thought I’d do a reading update and discuss what I want to read next.
Last read: Last Seen Online by Lauren James
I genuinely think this is what put me in a slight reading slump because it wasn’t for me. It felt like the plot was all over the place and didn’t quite live up to expectations. The story focusses on a fan/blogger of a popular tv show who goes missing. I think it had too many side plots to keep me intrigued and excited to pick it up.
Current read: Season of Fear by Emily Cooper
This one intrigued me as it has a lot of good reviews. This story is great so far. It follows the main character who has no fear in a world where fear is fed to an ancient Saint who protects the town folk from other monsters. I’m enjoying the world building and the feminist elements in this horror fantasy debut.
Next read: Good Spirits by B.K. Borison
It’s time to get in the Christmas spirit and I’ve been seeing this everywhere. This author is popular at the moment so I’m eager to see what the hype is about. The story follows Nolan, the ghost of Christmas past, who spends the season haunting sweet shop owner, Harriet’s life during the holidays. This sounds like a fun read that I can’t wait to dive into.
