Reading update: June 2025

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here – apologies. I’ve not read a massive amount of books over the last month or so but have got back into the swing of it this week. I thought I’d share what I’ve been reading and what I plan to read next. Hopefully, monthly wrap-ups will resume soon too.

I’ve just finished a reread of Emma by Jane Austen – a favourite of mine which I knew would help get me out of my slump. I love the witty dialogue and how imperfect the main character is.

At the moment, I’m in the middle of The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis. It’s a book that’s been on my tbr for a while and wish I’d picked up sooner as it’s brilliant so far. I think it’s a great choice for those who love Donna Tartt’s The Secret History or just psychological thrillers in general.

Recently, I finished Emily Henry’s new book and it took me ages to get through. It was enjoyable but not my favourite of hers. I think I struggled with the plot jumping from interview style to the romantic subplot. It was a bit too similar to The Seven Husband’s of Evelyn Hugo – just not executed as well. And I adore The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by the way.

Speaking of Taylor Jenkins Reid books – I just picked up her new one, Atmosphere, which will likely be my next read. I’ve been hearing lots of great things about it so hopefully it’s as good as anticipated. I think the plot centres around the main character, Joan, wanting to be one of the first people to go to space. It’s set in the 1980s at NASA’s Space Shuttle program.

I’m loving all things space related at the moment and non-fiction books have really sparked an interest. I read Tim Peak’s Ask an Astronaut and learnt a bunch of interesting stuff about space and his whole experience living there. I would definitely recommend if you want an easy read but one that will keep you engaged while learning new things.

Carrie by Stephen King is still on my radar to read soon but as a mood reader, it may end up being something I pick up in October when I feel more of the spooky vibes than right now.

Hopefully it won’t be too long until I have some more bookish content to share. Thanks for always supporting my blog, even when I post less.
