ESTELLOSAURUS READS BOOK TAG
Q1) What are you reading at the moment, if you aren’t reading, what have you just finished?
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath… I’m enjoying it so far.
Q2) What book does everyone love that you just don’t get?
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. For some reason everyone loves this book but I just didn’t understand the hype. I still don’t know what happened in it.
Q3) What book or book series deserves its very own Netflix (other streaming sites are available) series?
The only series that comes to mind is The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. I love this series a lot more than To All The Boys and I think it would make a great TV show.
Q4) Is there a book that you just could not finish? Why?
I can’t think of a particular book off the top of my head but there are two series I haven’t finished and most likely never will. I found the Truly Devious and The Raven Cycle series so tedious.
Q5) What book is your go to recommendation when someone asks you to suggest a good read?
Either Washington Black by Esi Edugyan or The Toy Makers by Robert Dinsdale.
Q6) Is there a book that you’ve read multiple times? Why do you keep going back to it?
Anything by Sophie Kinsella. Her novels just make me happy and are really quick and easy reads. My favourite is Can You Keep a Secret? and the Shopaholic series. Whenever I’m in a reading slump I will pick up one of these books to reread as I know I will devour it in a day.
Q7) What was that one book that you had to study at school that you would definitely never, ever read again?
Probably Wele’n Gwawio by Angharad Tomos. It’s a Welsh book and is very bizarre and depressing. Come to think of it, most of the Welsh books and poems we studied in school were very depressing. I couldn’t remember the name of this book either, it was that bad, I had to ask a friend.
Q8) Is there a book that stirs a memory for you of a point in your life?
I have always loved to draw and I remember as a child carrying my Jacqueline Wilson books around with me and sketching the characters. I think I spent way too much time drawing the characters from The Suitcase Kid.
Q9) Who is that one literary character you’d like to punch in the face?
Curley from Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. He is the worst.
Q10) If you could re-write the ending of a book, which book would you pick and how would you change it?
To stick with the above theme (because nothing else comes to mind) I would change the ending in Of Mice and Men. I love the two main characters and this entire book but what happens in the end (no spoilers!) is too heartbreaking.
I tag Aoife and Eleanor
