Reading update – February 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve done a reading update. And I always forget to post WWW posts on a Wednesday but I still wanted to take part. For those who don’t know, WWW Wednesday is a meme created by Taking on the World of Words where bloggers answer three questions about their recent reads.

What are you currently reading?

At the moment, I’m reading Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. I’ve heard a lot of bloggers and booktubers mention this book but wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it. I’m about half way through and while I can tell it’s not going to be a favourite of mine, it is enjoyable to read. I will write a post on my thoughts once I’ve finished it, either in a mid year wrap up or a review.

What did you recently finish?

The last book I finished was An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. I did enjoy it, but I wasn’t overly in love with it. The characters weren’t very likeable. The writing is very good and I particularly liked the letters that the two main characters write to each other. The plot was good, I just didn’t expect everything that happened to be in the blurb. I was constantly expecting more to happen. I also just finished Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson which was a wonderful quick read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m not entirely sure what I’ll pick up next because I’m a mood reader and don’t want to plan my next read. I am tempted to either read a book by Taylor Jenkins Reid or Christina Lauren though. But that could change the minute I see all my books on my shelves. I also just got a copy of Last One at the Party by Bethany Clift so I might end up reading that as I’m intrigued by it.
