The summer book tag

I can’t believe we are in the summertime already. I’m not a huge fan of the sunshine but I thought it was a great excuse to do this tag. I saw Aoife from Pretty Purple Polka dots participate in this and thought it looked like fun.

What book makes you think of summer?

The first book to come to my mind is The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen. All of Dessen’s books tend to be set around summertime but this is one of my favourites and one that’s stuck in my mind the most.

What book has brightened your day?

The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary is a recent book that brightened my day. It’s such an engrossing read and I really enjoyed reading about the characters while they took a road trip together after breaking up a few years prior.

Find a book with yellow on it

Swing Time by Zadie Smith has a yellow book cover.

What is your favourite summer beach read?

I like a good thriller or crime novel on holiday. A Prisoner of Birth by Jeffrey Archer is one of my favourites.

What action book had you running for the ice cream man?

I can’t say I read many action books, if any. I’m going to choose The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins as it’s one of the books I loved the most as a teenager and it was pretty action-packed!

(Sunburn) What book left you with a bad or painful ending?

When All is Said by Anne Griffin is a really sad book. It’s wonderful. I loved the main character and the setting in Ireland but it is an emotional read.

(Sunset) What book gave you the happiest feelings when it ended?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is such a fantastic book. I didn’t want it to end. The plot was so gripping it made me want to reread it the minute I finished it.

What book cover reminds you of a sunset?

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s her latest book and the UK cover is stunning.

What is one book or series you hope to read this summer?

I really want to read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. It’s been recommended to me by so many people.
