My first reading update of 2022

I’ve read some great books over the last few weeks, so I thought I would do a small update on what I’ve been reading and what I plan to read next.

I’ve read eight books so far, ranging from thrillers and comedies.

I’ve just finished reading Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes for the first time and I loved it! Even though the book deals with drug addiction and serious topics, it was really funny. I wish I had picked up a Marian Keyes book sooner. I felt bad for Rachel but was rooting for her at the same time because she was such a great character. I was so engrossed in this book I forgot to post a blog post yesterday.

I’ve also recently finished Bunny by Mona Awad which was a bizarre read – but in a good way! It was shocking at times but had me gripped throughout. In some ways it reminded me of a mix between You by Caroline Kepnes, The Secret History by Donna Tartt and the film Mean Girls. It wasn’t necessarily a copy of those but it gave me the same vibe that they did. It’s one of those books that are hard to categorise into a genre because there is so much going on in the plot but I would definitely recommend it. I thought about this book a lot after I had finished it too.

I bought The Maid by Nita Prose and The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett which I’m excited to read next. I think Prose’s book sounds intriguing. It’s set in a fancy hotel, where the maid finds one of the guests dead in their room. Hallett’s book is also a new release and is right up my street. It’s set entirely in multimedia format. Just like her first novel, The Appeal, the reader has to solve the murder at the same time as those working on the case.

Have you read any good books this year so far? Let me know in the comments.
