I saw this tag over on Jenny’s blog and thought I would give it a go.
E-Book or Physical Book?
I prefer a physical book. There’s nothing better than turning the pages. I love the smell of a book too!
Paperback or Hardback?
Hardbacks are my favourite because I hate cracked spines. I like that the cover of the hardback book can also be used as a bookmark.
Online or In-Store Book Shopping?
Definitely book shopping. Who can resist a book shop? I love wandering the aisle and seeing what the books the shop recommends.
Trilogies or Series?
I guess it depends on whether there’s too much filler or not in the books. If each book is relevant to the plot I think it’s fine. I could read the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella over and over again and I still buy the newest ones and devour them in one sitting. So as long as the book isn’t being dragged out and each book has its own plot, I think the more the merrier.
Heroes or Villains?
Villains are the best because it makes the story so much more exciting and dramatic. Sometimes these characters become the best part of a book.
A book you want everyone to read?
The Toy Makers by Robert Dinsdale. It’s so magical and wonderful. I would recommend this to anyone who loved the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Read my review here.
Recommend an underrated book?
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. To me, this is so much better than To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. That’s not to say I didn’t also love that series too. I just think there’s so much more depth to The Summer I Turned Pretty and it doesn’t get enough recognition.
The last book you finished?
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and it is such a beautiful book. A review will be ready on my blog soon.
The Last Book You Bought?
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I’ve heard so many great things about this book but when it was recommended by one of my best friends, I just had to buy it.
Weirdest Thing You’ve Used as a Bookmark?
I don’t think this is that uncommon but I sometimes use the receipt that I got when I bought the book.
Used Books: Yes or No?
It depends on the condition of the book. I have bought many second hand ones in the past but I like them to be immaculate.
Top Three Favorite Genres?
Thriller, contemporary, classics.
Borrow or Buy?
Buy because I’m a mood reader and never get the chance to read the books someone lends me.
Characters or Plot?
Characters can make the story so if there’s something I don’t like about them then it can ruin the plot so for me the answer is characters.
Long or Short Books?
Long books if it doesn’t bore me because I never want it to end.
Long or Short Chapters?
Short chapters because I tend to finish a chapter before I put my book down. Somehow, I finish a book quicker if it has shorter chapters. It’s probably a psychological thing.
Name The First Three Books You Think Of:
1. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde because this is my favourite book ever
2. The Toy Makers by Robert Dinsdale because it is one of the most beautifully written books
3. Washington Black by Esi Edugyan because I can’t stop thinking about it
Books That Makes You Laugh or Cry?
I’ve never cried while reading a book so I’m going to choose laugh.
Our World or Fictional Worlds?
I like both but as I can only choose one. I would pick our world because sometimes it’s hard to get my head around a new world. It takes a lot of concentration.
Audiobooks: Yes or No?
Yes, I get so much more reading done with my audiobooks. You can stick them on while doing household tasks or on a long commute.
Do You Ever Judge a Book by its Cover?
Unfortunately, yes. But a bad cover won’t stop me from buying the book. It just puts a slight doubt in my mind.
Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?
I think a TV show because it can explore more of the details in the book, without having to rush through the plot.
A Movie or TV-Show You Preferred to its Book?
You by Caroline Kepnes. I found the book a bit too much. It was a lot more vulgar than the TV series.
Series or Standalones?
Series because I love regular updates on my favourite characters.
